Squarespace

design driven, user-friendly and performance-focused websites

As our favorite website platform to build from, Squarespace is the first one we recommend and the one we work with the most. Here's  the reasons why:

DIY DNA

Squarespace was designed with the do-it-yourself user in mind, making it notably easy to maintain and update websites on your own, long after the initial project has been completed. If you've used a computer in the last twenty years, the easy drag-and-drop editing provided in Squarespace will feel right at home.

BEAUTIFUL DESIGN THAT PERFORMS

Squarespace-based websites are built to incorporate cutting edge UI/UX best practices to provide you with the best of the best in form and function.

PEACE OF MIND

Squarespace is a self-contained platform that works seamlessly and is fully managed from top-to-bottom. This means there's never any need to update software, plugins, or widgets: patch vulnerabilities; or worry that the change in a component might break something else. Is also means there's rarely any to need to investigate or pay for third-party apps or plugins since most functionality is native to Squarespace.

RESPONSIVE DESIGN

Mobile traffic now accounts for more than half of all website traffic. With that in mind, it's critical that websites perform across any device and screen size. Every Squarespace-built website includes a unique mobile experience that matches the overall style of the website, so content will look great on every device, every time.

BUILT-IN SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION

Every Squarespace website is equipped with all the elements needed for strong SEO strategy. Site descriptions, page titles, custom URLs, search-friendly formatting, and other key elements are all easily managed. Futhermore, there is an automatically generated built-in sitemap that helps Google crawl, understand, and ultimately, rank a website.

24/7 AWARD-WINNING SUPPORT

The Customer Care team at Squarespace is available seven days a week, 24 hours a day, and has won several awards for outstanding customer support.

13 YEARS IN THE MAKING

Squarespace launched in 2003 and has grown steadily since, gaining over a million customers over the years. It is well-funded and well-regarded.

ROOM TO GROW

Squarespace was designed for everyone from bloggers to musicians to online retailers and now supports over 1 million websites. You can be confident in knowing that Squarespace is flexible enough to grow with you.

FAQs

Q. CAN I PRESERVE MY SEO?

A. Switching platforms may cause a temporary dip in established search ranking, but with Squarespace that dip can be significantly reduced. First, importing blog content, which is often a major contributor to SEO rankings, is a one-step process. Second, it's easy to customize URLs so inbound links will continue to work. Third, redirects of pages that do not get migrated over are simple to implement and will preserve the SEO value of those pages.

Q. CAN I TRACK METRICS?

A. It's easy to add Google Analytics tracking (we do this with every website we build) and there is an additional Squarespace Metrics interface, which includes a mobile app, to allow for you to access page view, visitor statistics, and track social media.

Q. WHAT IF I WANT TO LEAVE SQUARESPACE?

A. If for some reason you want to move your website to another platform form down the line, your content can be exported. More information about this can be found here.

Q. IS THERE ANYTHING SQUARESPACE DOESN'T DO?

A. While Squarespace is robust and powerful, there are time when it isn't the best fit. Squarespace currently does not support:

  • PayPal integration
  • Recurring payments
  • Member logins
  • Anything that would necessitate integration with a third-party API

Q. CAN'T I JUST HAVE A FACEBOOK PAGE?

A. Facebook is important and can drive traffic and sales, but it's not a substitute for a website. Facebook is akin to having a booth at a farmer's market -- lots of foot traffic, but the creative freedom is limited, the signal-to-noise ratio is high, and, at the end of the day, the visitors belong to the market itself.

Q. DO I NEED AN APP?

A. The vast majority of app functionality you are likely to need can be built within a website, which will be accessed far more regularly than an app. Statistically, most people only use five apps, with Facebook tasking the lion's share of that screen time. Having a mobile friendly website that loads quickly and beautifully from a smartphone browser will meet both your needs and the needs of your visitors without the irritating step of stopping to download an app.
